Good Morning, America!

Good day, world.  How are you?  I hope you've had a good year!

I wish to leave this fine year with the beginning of this blog.  I've been meaning to start one for quite some time, but never got around to doing so... until now.  My kick-in-the-pants is thanks, in part, to www.bellabonviveur.blogspot.com who, obviously, just started her own kick-ass blog (check it out!).  I only recently decided just what this blog was going to be about... I could never decide between one thing or another.  Finally, I've decided to make it center around my "New Years Resolution" (in quotes because it isn't so much a New Years Resolution as it is a set of goals that I happened to decide to begin on January 1st) and insert bits and pieces from other parts of my life as the time goes by.  I really want to treat this like a real journal, and enter... entries.. every day.

This shall be my pre-entry, basically explaining what's to come...

The center of my blog, as I stated, will be my "New Years Resolution," which goes thusly: Each month, over the next year, I will complete one of the following goals, in this order...
January - learn to play the ukelele (practice every day)
February - go a month without drinking
March - go to the gym 3+ times per week
April - read for at least one hour every day
May - go a month without cursing
June - spend no more than 8 hours in bed
July - no junk food
August - read/watch the news every day
September - go a month without Facebook
October - gain a basic understanding of Sign Language (via Beginner's Sign Language)
November - go a month without texting
December - go a month without television (including movies, youtube, etc.)
I'm doing this to try and better myself.  I don't want to stop using Facebook or texting forever, but I would like to lessen my reliance upon them, and spending a month WITHOUT them will probably make it easier to see that (for lack of less dramatic phrasing) life can be lived without them.  I think that, by the end of 2011, I will have introduced new, healthier habits into my life and brought myself into a more mature and overall better way of living.
